2001; I’m standing in a spotlight chosen for me by photographer Jonathan Mannion. He is using me as a placeholder as he adjusts his lights, preparing to shoot that classic Dungeon Family album cover. I’ve been hired as their makeup artist.
As I stand there focused on Jonathan’s directives, CeeLo walks over to me and says (in a manner only he possesses), “You know, Tori, you have a loud silence.” I blush and politely say, “Thank you,” not quite grasping what it means. But I know it feels right, so I quickly write the word “LOUDSILENCE” in my journal when I get home.
